Potential RuneScape Lost Media - TimeLierG - 09-19-2026

A disclaimer before I begin writing about this as to avoid this possibly being misleading, what I mean by "potential" is that what I saw when I was younger may have been a dream I had, although if it was it would have been a very realistic one, so realistic that I still remember it extremely clear and vividly. I don't have an exact date of when I saw this but there's some things that would point to a specific year, that being around late 2008. A long time ago, possibly around November 2008 when I would have been 11 years old, I found some kind of RuneScape style program, I don't remember what it was, the only thing I remember is the loading screen for it which I will try drawing soon for this post.

It could have been a few things such as an RSPS or a game similar to RuneScape which would have been pretty rare for 2008, it may have also been one of those malicious programs like an "item generator" that claims to spawn items. This last one is unlikely since I wouldn't have downloaded something like this in 2008, although one of my accounts was logged into around this time. There's a few more things that point to it not being a malicious program, if it was, why was there a loading screen and why was said loading screen so detailed? And if it was an RSPS it would have been different than many of them at the time due to the way the loading screen looked. I'll describe the scene that was depicted in said loading screen.

It looked like it took place in the Wilderness, not any specific part, it was more "realistic" and clearly not in the style of RuneScape, the best I can compare it to is the old CGI RuneScape 1 and RuneScape 2 art that was produced by Jagex for the God Letters and Postbag from the Hedge respectfully, specifically this one as seen here where it displays Tim's helmet partially in the ground or the other two images with the same background they used back then.

Image was made by Jagex, RuneScape is a property of Jagex.

Again, what I saw was realistic and still doesn't match this old CGI art, I'm only going to spend a few minutes drawing something up here to show you what it looked like.

I would have made this more detailed but I feel this will give a good idea of what I saw, I saw a pair of dragon claws next to a pile of gold and either a chest or a computer, all of these things are on a single table out in the giant landscape, the table was much closer and filled more of the screen. I forgot if there were dead trees or not, I drew the one to give it a feel for the scale of the mentioned landscape, there also may or may not have been a dragon med helm on the table. There was a red loading bar similar to the one when you would boot up RuneScape which was either in the middle of the screen or the screen of the mentioned computer on the table.

I've had this post as a draft for a few months now and I figured I would finish writing this now so here it is on 9/19/2026.
